LOS ANGELES, California (July 12, 2005) — Square Enix, Inc., the publisher of Square Enix™ interactive entertainment products in North America, announced today that FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST™ 2: Curse of the Crimson Elixir (FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST 2) is on sale today, nationwide. This fast-paced action RPG prequel to FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST™ and the Broken Angel is the second installment in the FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST™ series. Exclusively for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST 2 follows the story of the anime series, which airs on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim programming.

Key features of FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST 2 include an enhanced and highly intuitive alchemy system, beautifully rendered cel-shaded graphics, and nearly 30 minutes of original animation created specifically for the game. Greatly improved modeling and animation bring Ed and Al to life like never before. New animated footage complements the compelling story and will keep players on the edge of their seats Additionally, a bonus DVD features an advance look at the first two episodes of season 2: episode 27, "Teacher", and episode 28, "One is All, All is One" - airing in the Fall of 2005.

FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST 2 begins in Lior, the desert city that the Elric brothers, Edward and Alphonse, encounter in the first episode of the anime series. Just as the brothers are unveiling the secrets of a cult called Leto, they engage in a battle with creatures from the unknown. Immediately after this, they encounter a mysterious woman who hands the brothers a ring and then disappears without a trace.

Keeping with the spirit of the anime series, players will take on a fast-paced action adventure with a compelling original storyline that complements the anime saga.

Based on the Japanese anime and manga series, FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST made its way to America, beginning with episodic programming on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. The series spans 51 episodes in a story that ranges from tear-jerking drama to hilarious comedy. The anime series has been popular with fans and media alike, with a DVD release of Volume 4 July 26.

Marketing and Advertising Support

Promotional support includes a broad print campaign across enthusiast gaming and anime publications from June through August 2005.
