LOS ANGELES, CA (August 8, 2005) — Square Enix, Inc., the publisher of Square Enix™ interactive products in North America, today announced the appointment of Daishiro Okada as its President and Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Okada has also been appointed as a member of the Board of Directors for Square Enix, Inc. The appointment of Mr. Okada is part of efforts to expand business in the North American market.

Mr. Okada joined Square Enix Co., Ltd. in January 2005 in role of Senior Executive. Prior to joining Square Enix, Mr. Okada was Representative Director and Chief Operating Officer for a Japanese technology-company. Mr. Okada has also built a successful career as a banker at Deutsche Bank AG Group Japan and The Industrial Bank of Japan (currently, Mizuho Financial Group).

Mr. Okada is a seasoned executive who will be a key force in capturing the full potential of Square Enix's abundant collection of high quality digital content," said Yoichi Wada, President, Square Enix Co., Ltd. Mr. Ichiro Otobe, the former President and Chief Operating Officer will leave Square Enix, Inc. and assume new responsibilities at Square Enix Co., Ltd.
