SQUARE ENIX TO BRING AWARD-WINNING SCARYGIRL TO XBOX LIVE ARCADE AND PLAYSTATION®NETWORK

Action–Platform Game Will Bring Nathan Jurevicius' Acclaimed Graphic Novel to Life


LOS ANGELES (January 6, 2012)Square Enix, Inc., the publisher of SQUARE ENIX® interactive entertainment products in the Americas, today announced Scarygirl™, a new action–platform game based on Nathan Jurevicius' critically acclaimed graphic novel of the same name. Developed by TikGames, Scarygirl will be available on January 18 for the Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, January 24 for the PlayStation®Network for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Windows PC in early 2012.


Based on Nathan Jurevicius' Scarygirl graphic novel — winner of the 2009 Aurealis Award for Best Illustrated Book/Graphic novel — Scarygirl presents a wondrous adventure into a distinctive and beautifully bizarre world. The titular character Scarygirl is an abandoned child with a tentacle arm who dresses like a pirate, and is haunted by a strange man in her dreams. She sets out into the world to discover the meaning behind her bad dreams, but Scarygirl is hardly helpless, as she has a tentacle–powered arsenal up her sleeve.


During her adventure, Scarygirl will be aided by her friends and guardians from the graphic novel, Blister the giant octopus and Bunniguru the mystical, kung–fu rabbit. Her friends and an ever–improving arsenal of combat moves will help her face down enemies like the adorably deadly hedgehogs of the Owl Woods, the violent Goat Clan along the Old Man Mountains, Hairclump spiders deep in the Stinky Swamp, and the most enemiest enemies of all — the clueless crossing guards around Bad Town!

SQUARE ENIX ANNOUNCES FINAL FANTASY® XIII-2 PLAYABLE DEMO AVAILABLE TODAY FOR XBOX 360 AND THE PLAYSTATION®3 SYSTEM



LOS ANGELES (January 10, 2012)Square Enix, Inc., the publisher of SQUARE ENIX® interactive entertainment products in the Americas, announced that a playable demo for FINAL FANTASY® XIII–2 is available today for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system.


The FINAL FANTASY XIII–2 demo takes place in Bresha Ruins, with new character Noel and returning character Serah pitted against a gigantic and powerful adversary called Atlas. Atlas has mysteriously appeared due to an anomaly in time and space. The demo allows the player to experience many gameplay features and enhancements made after FINAL FANTASY XIII, including cinematic action sequences in battles and environments with multiple areas and paths to explore. The brand–new Paradigm Pack System is also available in the demo, giving players the opportunity to enlist defeated enemies into their party and develop them alongside Serah and Noel.


"The demo provides an excellent opportunity for players to try out the evolved battle system and fully explore an entire area of the game," said Yoshinori Kitase, producer of FINAL FANTASY XIII–2. SQUARE ENIX BRINGS THE AWARD-WINNING KOOZAC TO SMARTPHONE AND TABLET DEVICES

Described by the BBC as "the ultimate in brain training" and "utterly addictive", KooZac is an immersive puzzle game devised by Ben Cusack which has racked up 15 million plays online and picked up a "Best International Interactive Viral" award. With the original concept created following years of research into what makes an evergreen puzzle game, Square Enix recently moved to acquire the KooZac license, and also hired Ben Cusack in the process to head up its expanding mobile division.

DEL REY ANNOUNCES NEW NOVEL INSPIRED BY HITMAN FRANCHISE





NEW YORK (January 17, 2012) — Del Rey, an imprint of the Random House Publishing Group, announced today a second novel based on the Hitman® video game series from IO Interactive™. HITMAN: DAMNATION will be written by author Raymond Benson and will release in North America in Summer 2012. The book will also be available in many other countries around the world, please keep an eye on the Official Hitman website for further details.


Taking place between games Hitman: Blood Money® and the upcoming Hitman: Absolution™, HITMAN: DAMNATION follows legendary assassin Agent 47 as he attempts to complete his toughest assignment yet. 47 is charged with assassinating high–level American political figures, but he notices that some aspects of the mission don’t add up as he is plunged into a web of lies, deceit, and murder.


This novel is based on a Mature–rated video game.

Hitman was created by IO Interactive™ in 2000 and has become an award-winning, multi-million selling videogame franchise. Agent 47 the games’ iconic central character is a genetically enhanced clone, engineered into a highly skilled assassin. SQUARE ENIX also announced that extensive downloadable content is planned for FINAL FANTASY® XIII–2. The planned content includes Coliseum Battles pitting the player against adversaries from previous FINAL FANTASY titles that, when defeated, can be recruited into the player’s party. The Coliseum battle "Lightning and Master Sergeant Amodar" will be distributed on February 7. In addition, there will be episodes which enhance the experience and complement the narrative of FINAL FANTASY XIII–2 with storyline branches for key characters in the story.
