LOS ANGELES (Apr. 1, 2012) — SQUARE ENIX CO., LTD. the publisher of FINAL FANTASY, DRAGON QUEST, TOMB RAIDER, SPACE INVADERS, today announced the launch of the SQUARE ENIX Latin America Game Contest 2012. This contest will give Game developers a chance to compete to find out who can make the best game in the region.

"This contest will be open to professionals and amateurs in Latin America, and we hope to discover the next generation of talented creators through this initiative. Let's bring the best games from Latin America to the world!" said Yasuhiro Fukushima, founder and honorary chairman of Square Enix.

"The history of SQUARE ENIX began with a contest. In 1982 we held the first "Game Hobby Program Contest" to discover brilliant game developers in Japan. This contest was praised for contributing to the development of Japan’s game industry, with many participants later becoming leading game developers in Japan. In Latin America the first step of SQUARE ENIX will be the SQUARE ENIX Latin America Game Contest 2012, and we are looking forward to repeating our history here as well."
