SQUARE ENIX SHIPS MUSASHI: SAMURAI LEGEND TO RETAILERS MARCH 15, 2005

Musashi Hacks and Slashes onto the PlayStation®2 Computer Entertainment System and Mobile Phones
LOS ANGELES (February 1, 2005) — Square Enix, Inc., the publisher of Square EnixT interactive entertainment products in North America, announced today that MUSASHI®: Samurai LegendT (MUSASHI) will ship to retailers nationwide on March 15, 2005. The action role-playing game will be available exclusively for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system and marks the series' debut on the platform. MUSASHI features vivid, cell-shaded graphics and exhilarating, fast-paced, action-packed gameplay.

Simultaneously, MUSASHI® MOBILE SAMURAI will be introduced on mobile handsets, using the same character and concept as the console title. The mobile game is an original 3D action game that offers spectacular graphics, rich sound effects and fast-paced action that are optimized for the mobile phone experience.

We hope fans will enjoy the great graphics, action and storyline in these games," said Ichiro Otobe, president and COO of Square Enix, Inc. "Our North American fans are really important to the company, and we wanted to show our appreciation by trying a different business approach. With MUSASHI, we are releasing a title in the United States before Japan for the first time. And, with the concurrent release of the mobile game, our U.S. fans will be able to play anytime, anywhere."

MUSASHI delivers an expressive visual odyssey thanks to dazzling "manga shading" techniques. Adorable characters and lush environments come to life in Japanese comic-book style.

The journey begins when Princess Mycella summons Musashi across space and time to save her people from danger. As a stranger in a new world, Musashi finds intrigue and adventure as he hones his battle skills to defeat a sinister nemesis.

All-new battle systems contribute to non-stop action. Musashi can focus his energy to learn his opponents' techniques, allowing him to give enemies a taste of their own medicine. And this time Musashi can not only pick up allies and enemies but also wield them in combat to devastating effect.

MUSASHI®: Samurai LegendT has a suggested retail price of U.S. $39.99 and is rated "T" (Teen).

MUSASHI® MOBILE SAMURAI's availability and pricing details will be announced at a later date.

Launch of Game Portal Service “EZ Game Street!” for “au” Mobile Phones

(February 9, 2005) — KDDI Corporation and Okinawa Cellular Corporation in collaboration with SQUARE ENIX CO., LTD., announced the February 10, 2005 launch of "EZ Game Street!", the first full-scale game portal service in the mobile field. "EZ Game Street!" is an innovative service for au handsets that allows users to search for and download EZ Appli ("BREW®") games through an easy-to-follow, graphic-based portal page.

"EZ Game Street!" features the ability to perform searches by title or genre across various game sites simultaneously, eliminating the need to visit the site of each content provider to find and download individual games. Also, in place of the simple text displays used for current search results, "EZ Game Street!" has introduced a new system that displays animated character icons to represent each game title, making the process of searching for games an entertaining activity by itself. Before making a purchase, users can find out more by selecting the appropriate icon to display a game information page accompanied by original game sounds.

With the launch of the service, over 350 games from 43 content providers will be available for character icon-represented searches. We expect to increase the number of game titles as the service continues.

Along with the cooperation of SQUARE ENIX CO., LTD., we have planned and developed a system that allows users to experience a new dimension of game content, and we will continue our collaborative effort to create new ways to enjoy games through "EZ Game Street!"

This is the translation of the announcement issued jointly by KDDI Co, Okinawa Cellular and Square Enix Co. Ltd in Japan. For more detailed information about the release, please click here.
