Square Enix Announces North American Ship Date and Celebrity Voice Cast for New Action-RPG

LOS ANGELES (February 1, 2011)Square Enix, Inc., the publisher of SQUARE ENIX® interactive entertainment products in North America, announced today that The 3rd Birthday™ will ship to North American retailers on March 29, 2011. Developed exclusively for the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system, The 3rd Birthday is an action-RPG that offers an all-new story-driven shooter for the handheld platform.



Square Enix also revealed a celebrity voice cast for The 3rd Birthday, including Yvonne Strahovski of NBC's Chuck as the voice of Aya Brea. "I was immediately interested when Square Enix approached me with the opportunity to play Aya Brea in The 3rd Birthday. I love Aya – she's strong, driven and ready to take on the world," said Yvonne Strahovski. Story

Hideous creatures descend on Manhattan. Ground reports from the squad tasked with containing the pandemonium refer to these life-forms as the Twisted. An investigatory team known as the CTI is formed within the year.

The Overdive System emerges as a means of opposition, but only one viable candidate exists – Aya Brea. A gift as she awakens from a lost past on this, the occasion of her third birth.

NEW BUST-A-MOVE AVAILABLE FOR iPhone AND iPod touch

Puzzle Classic Updated with New Tricks and Gimmicks

LOS ANGELES (February 4, 2011) — TAITO Corporation (TAITO®), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Square Enix Holdings Co., Ltd., today announced the worldwide release of NEW BUST-A-MOVE™ for iPhone® and iPod touch®. This latest installment in the beloved BUST-A-MOVE (A.K.A. PUZZLE BOBBLE®) series of puzzle action games is now available for download from the App Store.



While NEW BUST-A-MOVE preserves the classic match-three bubble-bursting play that made the series such a hit since its initial arcade release in 1994, it also boasts a variety of features including new level types and a never-before-seen control method.



A BUST-A-MOVE Series First: Jump Shots!
In addition to the Tap Shot – in which a bubble is launched in the direction tapped – and the pull-and-release Sling Shot control methods, NEW BUST-A-MOVE offers a completely new option: the Jump Shot. The Jump Shot offers the ability to launch a bubble over interposing obstacles, landing at a point chosen by the player. Skillful use of this technique opens up a new level of exhilarating play and clever strategy, allowing players to drop clusters of bubbles from the ceiling, etc.



Packed with New Tricks like Bubble Holding, Bomb Bubbles and Countdowns!
This edition boasts a number of features intended to give players new strategic options, including the Hold ability to save bubbles that have been loaded into the launcher for future use and explosive Bomb Bubbles capable of wiping out surrounding bubbles.

While in previous editions of BUST-A-MOVE, bubbles reaching the bottom of the play field instantly led to a Game Over result, NEW BUST-A-MOVE offers a three-second countdown, allowing quick-witted players to save themselves from defeat. Square Enix Wins IP Infringement Lawsuit against French Company




Paris, France (February 10, 2011) — Square Enix Holdings Co., Ltd. and Square Enix Co., Ltd. (collectively "Square Enix") have prevailed in an IP infringement lawsuit filed against la société SAKURA ("SAKURA"), a Paris-based company specializing in the importation/distribution of merchandise based on Japanese-produced content. The Tribunal de Grande Instance de Paris served SAKURA with an injunction against the importation/distribution of pirated products and ordered SAKURA to pay €80,000 in damages to Square Enix for the infringement of Square Enix's FINAL FANTASY® and FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST® trademarks and FINAL FANTASY series copyrights.



Commenting on the ruling, Yasuhiko Hasegawa, Square Enix's General Counsel, stated, "In serving SAKURA with an injunction decision and awarding Square Enix a significant amount in damages, the Tribunal de Grande Instance de Paris has acknowledged the maliciousness of the infringement, sending a clear message that businesses dealing in counterfeit products will not be tolerated. Square Enix considers its intellectual property to be a crucial resource, and will continue to take decisive action, including the filing of both civil and criminal lawsuits, to protect this property."



(Summary of Events)
The defendant SAKURA, trading under the name of "KONCI" at a retail location in Paris, had been engaging in the sales of counterfeit products infringing upon FINAL FANTASY and FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST trademarks and FINAL FANTASY series copyrights. The defendant also utilized an internet website to market pirated products across the EU territory. On May 28, 2009, Square Enix filed a lawsuit with the Tribunal de Grande Instance de Paris against SAKURA.

Allow a village to be slaughtered or side with a particular warlord in battle and the player may gain new allies, sow new enemies and push the story in entirely new directions.


In order to provide players with an opportunity to experience the multitude of branching pathways and many varied endings, Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together has also introduced two new systems, the World Tarot and the Chariot Tarot, which allow players to rewind both key battles and critical plot points in an effort to change their fate.

US-BASED SQUARE ENIX EXPANDS EXECUTIVE TEAM; MONA HAMILTON JOINS AS VICE PRESIDENT OF MARKETING




LOS ANGELES (February 28, 2011) Square Enix, Inc., — the publisher of SQUARE ENIX® interactive entertainment products in the Americas, announced that it has strengthened its executive team with the addition of Mona Hamilton as vice president of marketing.

Hamilton will lead marketing and public relations strategy for Square Enix, responsible for the broad portfolio of market leading franchises and games under the SQUARE ENIX, EIDOS® and TAITO® brands.

"I have been a great fan of Mona's work for many years and she is a stellar addition to our team," said Mike Fischer, president and chief executive officer of Square Enix, Inc. "I am excited for Mona to combine her strong leadership skills with Square Enix's great entertainment content in order to take us to the next level."

Hamilton joins Square Enix with over fifteen years of experience in product marketing, development, management and buying in the interactive and consumer entertainment industry. She was most recently vice president of marketing for Capcom Entertainment, Inc., where she led all marketing efforts for Capcom in North America. With deep expertise in the gaming industry, Hamilton was previously also vice president of marketing for Midway Games, Inc. and a group brand manager at Ubisoft Entertainment. She has worked on an array of acclaimed video game brands and best selling franchises.

An industry veteran with a track record of success at both Japanese and U.S. companies, Hamilton's background is in consumer packaged goods, where she worked in product development and buying within the gift and toy industries.

Ami Blaire, previously vice president of marketing, will be taking on a new role as vice president leading the online content and commerce operations for Square Enix, Inc.
