SQUARE ENIX ANNOUNCES DOUBLESIX’S ALL ZOMBIES MUST DIE! HEADING TO XBOX LIVE® Arcade





LOS ANGELES (November 28, 2011)Square Enix, Inc., the publisher of SQUARE ENIX® interactive entertainment products in the Americas, today announced it has entered into a publishing deal with doublesix for the Xbox LIVE Arcade version of All Zombies Must Die!™. The game is due for release in later this month.


The spiritual successor to doublesix's Burn Zombie Burn, All Zombies Must Die! sees the main character Jack living out his fantasies as a gamer in a town overrun by zombies. Packed with playful humor, All Zombies Must Die! fuses many gameplay elements to create a frenetic action–packed RPG shooter offering the player and up to three friends, a non–stop Zombie–killing mayhem. The game’s RPG elements allow the player to level up characters, complete comical side quests and collect items to craft new weapons.

SQUARE ENIX GROUP LEADS CONSOLE-QUALITY BROWSER GAMING WITH GOOGLE CHROME



TOKYO (December 8, 2011) — The Square Enix Group, an integrated entertainment group, today announced its first game title developed with Native Client, an open–source technology for running native compiled code in the browser. Launching with Native Client was made possible by the close work between the Square Enix Group and Google, who share a similar vision for bringing immersive applications to the web within the browser. Yoichi Wada, chief executive officer of Square Enix Holdings, presented the group’s first title, Mini Ninjas®, at a Native Client event held at Google's headquarters in Mountain View, California to showcase the Square Enix Group's commitment to industry–leading innovation in the browser.


"Gaming in the browser greatly expands the video game market to new consumers, devices and platforms," commented Mr. Wada. "Native Client enables the same consumer experience in the browser as in a native application. *** Temporary Suspension of "SQUARE ENIX MEMBERS" Operations ***



We have reason to believe that unknown parties may have gained unauthorized access to a particular Square Enix server related to the free SQUARE ENIX MEMBERS service offered in North America and Japan. In response, Square Enix, Inc. has temporarily suspended operation of the SQUARE ENIX MEMBERS service starting at 10PM (PST) on December 12, 2011.



We are assessing the full extent of this potential breach to determine what data, if any, was compromised and will provide more details as soon as possible. While some personal information may have been accessed, we can confirm that there is no possibility of any credit card information leak from this incident, since the server in question stores no credit card information. We estimate that the suspension will continue for a few days until we complete our investigation and counter-measures. We will update you as we learn more.



We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused by the temporary suspension of the SQUARE ENIX MEMBERS service. We take data security extremely seriously and we regret any inconvenience this may have caused our customers and fans. We appreciate your patience and support at this time.

Temporary Suspension of "SQUARE ENIX MEMBERS" Operations (Update)



As a result of our continuing investigation into the unauthorized intrusion reported yesterday, Square Enix has now determined that user login credentials were not accessed. Moreover, we have not found evidence that the individual was able to access any personal information at all.



We will be sending an email to all SQUARE ENIX MEMBERS advising that an incident took place. This email will not be requesting any action from you.



We have reported this incident to the Japanese Government.



Because we have decided to conduct a broader internal investigation, it will take a few more days before we make the SQUARE ENIX MEMBERS service available once again. We deeply regret the inconvenience this may have caused our customers and fans, and appreciate your patience.

As a result of our continuing investigation, we have now confirmed that the database in which we store personal information was NOT accessed during the recent server intrusion. Therefore, your personal information was NOT compromised by an unknown third party.



Square Enix is planning to restart the SQUARE ENIX MEMBERS service by the end of December. Details of the schedule will be announced at a later date.

SQUARE ENIX AND MICROSOFT COLLABORATE TO BRING EXCLUSIVE WEAPON DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT TO THE XBOX 360 VERSION OF FINAL FANTASY XIII-2



LOS ANGELES (December 21, 2011)Square Enix, Inc., the publisher of SQUARE ENIX® interactive entertainment products in the Americas, today announced that a new piece of content has been added to the downloadable content (DLC) list for FINAL FANTASY® XIII–2. The new DLC, a bow weapon for Serah called "Azrael," has been created through a collaboration between Square Enix and Microsoft, and will be available exclusively for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, on Jan. 31, 2012.


Azrael is named after an angel who represents spirits and death. It is believed to possess the power to change the owner’s destiny, and the player's Chain Bonus will upgrade when equipped. You can purchase this weapon from Chocolina, the merchant, in Episode 2 or beyond in the main game for 80 Microsoft Points via the Xbox LIVE® Marketplace for Xbox 360. Only Serah has the ability to wield this legendary weapon.

New WAKFU Sram Class Video and Screenshots

Square Enix and Ankama are excited to announce that their upcoming MMORPG WAKFU, will be in Open Beta beginning January 4, 2012. To celebrate the big event, they will also be revealing brand–new content including the Sram’s Shadow character class!


Published by Square Enix, Inc. and developed by Ankama, WAKFU is an all–new, tactical turn–based MMORPG that will be launching worldwide in February 2012. Featuring an amazing anime art style, players can choose from 12 unique character classes and engage in rebuilding a world lost in chaos through strategic combat, crafting, and even national politics!


This week, we disclose details for the Sram’s Shadow character class. Players will only have access to this and additional content when the new patch is live and the game is in Open Beta on January 4th.

Master assassins in the World of Twelve, the Sram’s Shadow are deviant characters that will go to great lengths to defeat their enemies. Hiding amongst deep, dark shadows, the Sram’s use their strength of speed and invisibility to escape all dangerous situations at any cost.

SQUARE ENIX DEFEATS BASELESS CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT INVOLVING FINAL FANTASY XI



On December 20, 2011, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed dismissal with prejudice of the Leong v. Square Enix class action lawsuit, concluding that the plaintiffs’ claims “are without merit.” The case was brought by five alleged former players of FINAL FANTASY XI.



The District Court ruled, and the Ninth Circuit affirmed, that Square Enix’s business practices and click-through user agreements were both fair and legal. Both Courts confirmed that Square Enix owns all of the character-related data generated during gameplay.



"We are very pleased with the Court’s ruling," stated Steve Ross, Deputy General Counsel of Square Enix, Inc. "We feel vindicated since many of the allegations were patently false. We only wish plaintiffs had contacted our dedicated customer support for assistance before resorting to a lawsuit. Square Enix will defend itself against baseless litigation."



Plaintiffs filed three versions of the class action complaint, each alleging different plaintiffs or legal theories, before the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California dismissed the case with prejudice on April 20, 2010.
